Altagracia apartment building. Guatemala. 1.400 m2
For this apartment building, we were particularly interested in softening the presence of the units behind a playful façade.
A composition of metal panels, floating wooden slats, and glass surfaces creates an abstract, dynamic rhythm.
Structural elements, such as partially exposed steel beams, are integrated to form a graphic pattern that gives the building its identity.
This residential building explores the rhythm of shadow, proportion, and repetition.
A façade of vertical timber slats and shifting white panels creates a dynamic skin that changes throughout the day — catching morning light, softening afternoon sun, and giving each dwelling a sense of privacy without sacrificing openness.
The structure is defined by a strong rectangular frame that outlines the building’s full height, giving clarity and order to the composition. Within this frame, the façade operates like a layered screen: sometimes solid, sometimes transparent, always balanced.
On the ground level, the volume opens into a shaded entry and parking area, while the upper floors extend toward the landscape with generous balconies and sliding glass doors. The top level is crowned by an open-air terrace framed by the same structural lines — a quiet rooftop escape surrounded by trees.
Interiors benefit from the façade’s depth: filtered light, natural ventilation, and views framed with intention. Timber, concrete, and glass form a restrained, timeless palette.
