Casa Amatitlán. Lake Amatitlán, Guatemala. 320 m2
A lakeside home shaped around a single idea: the horizon.
Every element of the design is conceived to emphasize the wide, tranquil line drawn by Lake Amatitlán. In the social area, large sliding glass panels disappear entirely, allowing the interior to merge seamlessly with the endless horizon.
Set on a gently sloping lake-side site, this contemporary residence is defined by long horizontal planes, deep overhangs, and a warm palette of concrete, wood, and glass. The architecture opens fully to the landscape, framing long southwest views and inviting natural light throughout the day.
The ground floor dissolves into expansive terraces and a sunlit pool deck, blurring the boundary between interior and exterior. Materials remain honest and timeless: smooth concrete walls, warm timber ceilings, and generous glazing that breathes with the changing light.
Inside, social spaces flow effortlessly, designed for summer home rhythm of life — slow mornings, shaded afternoons, open-air dining. Floating roofs create a sense of protection and calm, while the upper level offers private retreats elevated above the garden.
The house balances structural clarity with softness, offering a warm and open home rooted in proportion, light, and connection to nature.
