Casa Wagner. Guatemala. 380 m2

She wanted a home that felt weightless — a place to float above the city, above the tree line, held quietly in the landscape.

This two-level hillside home is built around light, structure, and connection to its surroundings. The upper living area sits beneath a warm timber slatted ceiling, suspended under exposed steel beams and a floating roof plane that brings soft daylight deep into the interior. A continuous clerestory band opens the space to shifting light and long views.

The architecture combines natural materials with an industrial clarity: textured concrete walls, steel structure, large glass panels, and warm wood floors. The result is a calm, open living space where muted tones and honest materials set the tone for daily life.

Sliding glass doors dissolve the boundary between interior and terrace, turning the upper level into a pavilion overlooking the landscape. The plan flows naturally from kitchen to living room to outdoor deck, encouraging movement, gathering, and cross-ventilation.

Below this level, the house steps down with the terrain, creating a grounded, private lower floor that anchors the lightweight volume above. The interplay between heavy and light, solid and transparent, gives the home its character. Contemporary, lived-in, and deeply connected to its site.
